Position Title: EHS Officer
Reports to: Factory Manager / General Manager

- Purpose
To ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety standards in the corrugated carton manufacturing facility by implementing effective EHS policies, procedures, and practices that promote a safe, clean, and sustainable working environment.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Health & Safety Management
- 
- Develop, implement, and monitor workplace health and safety programs in compliance with local laws and company policies.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of machinery (corrugators, flexo printers, die-cutters, strappers, etc.) to identify and eliminate potential hazards.
- Enforce the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety shoes, ear protection, and goggles.
- Ensure machine guards, emergency stops, and fire extinguishers are in proper working condition.
- Investigate and report all workplace incidents, near-misses, and injuries, and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct risk assessments for all operations, including corrugation, printing, die-cutting, and packing areas.
- Lead emergency preparedness activities — fire drills, evacuation plans, and first-aid readiness.
 
B. Environmental Management
- 
- Oversee waste segregation, recycling, and disposal systems for paper, ink, and packaging waste.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to air emissions, wastewater, and noise levels.
- Monitor ink handling, storage, and disposal to prevent soil or water contamination.
- Promote sustainability initiatives — energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste minimization.
- Maintain documentation for environmental audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
 
C. Compliance and Documentation
- Maintain updated EHS records, including incident reports, inspection checklists, MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets), and PPE issue logs.
- Prepare EHS performance reports and submit them to management regularly.
- Ensure all legal and regulatory permits related to environmental and safety compliance are renewed and displayed.
- Participate in internal and external EHS audits and ensure timely closure of findings.
D. Training and Awareness
- 
- Conduct induction and refresher safety training for all employees and contractors.
- Organize awareness campaigns on topics like fire prevention, ergonomics, chemical handling, and waste management.
- Ensure all staff are trained in emergency response and first aid procedures.
 
E. Coordination and Leadership
- 
- Work closely with production, maintenance, and HR departments to integrate safety into all factory operations.
- Serve as the first point of contact for EHS issues and regulatory inspections.
- Lead the EHS Committee and ensure regular meetings and follow-ups.
- Foster a safety-first culture through visible leadership, motivation, and recognition programs.

- Number of incidents, near-misses, and lost-time injuries (LTI)
- Compliance score from internal and external audits
- Training coverage rate (%)
- Waste recycling ratio (%)
 
-  Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering or related field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or packaging industry
- Knowledge of EHS laws, ISO 45001 & 14001 standards
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Computer literacy (MS Office, EHS reporting software)
