Position Title: EHS Officer

Reports to: Factory Manager / General Manager

1. Purpose

To ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety standards in the corrugated carton manufacturing facility by implementing effective EHS policies, procedures, and practices that promote a safe, clean, and sustainable working environment.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Health & Safety Management

1. 1. Develop, implement, and monitor workplace health and safety programs in compliance with local laws and company policies.
   2. Conduct regular safety inspections of machinery (corrugators, flexo printers, die-cutters, strappers, etc.) to identify and eliminate potential hazards.
   3. Enforce the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety shoes, ear protection, and goggles.
   4. Ensure machine guards, emergency stops, and fire extinguishers are in proper working condition.
   5. Investigate and report all workplace incidents, near-misses, and injuries, and recommend corrective actions.
   6. Conduct risk assessments for all operations, including corrugation, printing, die-cutting, and packing areas.
   7. Lead emergency preparedness activities — fire drills, evacuation plans, and first-aid readiness.

B. Environmental Management

1. 1. Oversee waste segregation, recycling, and disposal systems for paper, ink, and packaging waste.
   2. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to air emissions, wastewater, and noise levels.
   3. Monitor ink handling, storage, and disposal to prevent soil or water contamination.
   4. Promote sustainability initiatives — energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste minimization.
   5. Maintain documentation for environmental audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

C. Compliance and Documentation

1. Maintain updated EHS records, including incident reports, inspection checklists, MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets), and PPE issue logs.
2. Prepare EHS performance reports and submit them to management regularly.
3. Ensure all legal and regulatory permits related to environmental and safety compliance are renewed and displayed.
4. Participate in internal and external EHS audits and ensure timely closure of findings.

D. Training and Awareness

1. 1. Conduct induction and refresher safety training for all employees and contractors.
   2. Organize awareness campaigns on topics like fire prevention, ergonomics, chemical handling, and waste management.
   3. Ensure all staff are trained in emergency response and first aid procedures.

E. Coordination and Leadership

1. 1. Work closely with production, maintenance, and HR departments to integrate safety into all factory operations.
   2. Serve as the first point of contact for EHS issues and regulatory inspections.
   3. Lead the EHS Committee and ensure regular meetings and follow-ups.
   4. Foster a safety-first culture through visible leadership, motivation, and recognition programs.

3. Performance Indicators (KPIs)
   • Number of incidents, near-misses, and lost-time injuries (LTI)
   • Compliance score from internal and external audits
   • Training coverage rate (%)
   • Waste recycling ratio (%)

4. Qualifications and Skills
   • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering or related field
   • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or packaging industry
   • Knowledge of EHS laws, ISO 45001 & 14001 standards
   • Strong communication and leadership skills
   • Computer literacy (MS Office, EHS reporting software)
